Azerbaijan, Baku, November 27/ Trend / In January to October, over 3.9bln cu m of gas was delivered to Azerenerji joint stock company to generate energy as compared to 2.4bln for the same period of last year, SOCAR said.
In October, Azerenerji received 433.8mln cu m of natural gas as compared to 412.5mln cu m for the same period of 2007.
According to forecast, Azerenerji will receive 5.6bln cu m of gas this year.
In April 2007, the scheme of mutual accounts on gas operations between governmental units was changed. Now SOCAR sells gas to Azerenerji directly. Earlier SOCAR was selling gas to Azernerji through Azerigaz.
SOCAR was selling gas to Azerigaz at AZN 42 for 1,000 cu m. On its part, Azerigaz was selling the gas to Azerenerji to generate energy.
Azerenerji paid very small amount for the gas supplied by Azerigaz which resulted in debts for the latter to SOCAR. At present, Azerigaz only transports gas to electric power stations.
