Azerbaijan, Baku, Dec. 22 / Trend , S.Aliyev/ British Petroleum (BP) resumes oil production from the central part of the Central Azeri field, which was stopped due to gas emission, a source in the oil industry in Azerbaijan said on Dec. 22.
BP, operator of development of the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli (ACG) fields, is launching
production wells in the central part of the field.
Oil production in the ACG block of fields now totals about 650,000 bpd against 900,000
bpd before suspension of platforms on the field.
On Sep. 17, BP stopped oil production from the Central Azeri field and
evacuated the staff from the platform as gas emission was revealed nearby in
the sea. Production on the western part of the deposit from the West Azeri
platform was stopped for precaution, but later restored.
Azeri Light oil is produced from the ACG and is exported through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan
pipeline.
