Azerbaijan, Baku, Feb. 2 / Trend , E.Ismayilov/

The Azerbaijani Emergency Situations Ministry will form a commission to investigate the increasing number of gas leaks and gas-use violations in the country, a source at the Azerbaijani Industrial and Energy Ministry said on Feb. 2.

Many Azerbaijani residents are using homemade gas stoves this winter that do not meet technical norms due to the extreme cold. Such devices have lead to an upswing in carbon-monoxide poisoning cases and explosions in recent months.

"The ministry will probably form a special commission this week comprising representatives of all relevant bodies," the source said.

The commission will include officials of the Emergency Situation Ministry, Prosecutor General's Office, Interior Ministry, Industrial and Energy Ministry, Cabinet of Ministers, Azerigaz and the State Committee on Standardization, Metrology and Patents.

The commission will work two months and submit a report to the government explaining the increase in gas blasts and carbon-monoxide poisoning, the source said.
