Azerbaijan, Baku, Feb. 6 / Trend / Ukraine supported the Nabucco project unconditionally, since despite it does not pass via the territory of Ukraine, it will make it possible to determine the real cost of the gas, bought by the country from Russia, said the ambassador of Ukraine to Azerbaijan, Boris Klimchuk. This "one more large gas pipeline will make it possible to see the real gas price. Let the gas producers, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Iran and other countries themselves sell the gas, then we will understand the price and price formation," said Klimchuk.
At the same time, Ukraine intends to participate in all tenders, which will be held on this project. It intends to provide technology, equipment, pipes and other services and materials for the construction, the ambassador said.
The Nabucco project worth 7.9 billion euro will deliver Azerbaijani and Central Asian gas to the EU. Construction of the pipeline is expected to commence in 2010. Its maximum capacity will be 31 billion cubic meters per year. Nabucco shareholders are the Austrian OMV, Hungarian MOL, Bulgarian Bulgargaz, Romanian Transgaz, Turkish Botas and German RWE with 16.7 percent each.
The construction of the pipeline is planned to start in 2011 and the first transportations via the pipeline will commence in 2014.
