Bakielectricshebeke OJSC (distribution and sale of electric power in Baku) will complete creation of the first circular system of energy supply in Baku in the second six months of 2009, Tanriverdi Mustafayev, head of OJSC press service, said on Feb. 11. Operations on this system began in the second six months of 2008.

"Operations to establish the system will continue in 2009. They are planned to be completed by late 2009, perhaps in the mid. 2009," Mustafayev said.

Creation of circular system will completely provide Baku with uninterrupted daily energy supply. "We will try to operate rapidly as Baku is growing and developing. It is necessary for supply of new enterprises, dwellings and hotels," head of OJSC press service said.

Substations Mushfig (220 kilovolt) and Bail (110 kilovolt), as well as circular air line of electricity transmission between these substations are planned to put into operation in 2009, he said. 110 kilovolt substations Liman, Icheri Shekher and substation No227 are also planned to put into operation in 2009.

All these actions are made as part of development program of OJSC over 2007-2009.

In 2008 Bakielectricshebeke increased 3,877 megavolt/ampeer capacity of Baku electric system compared to 3,701 megavolt/ampere in 2007.

Over 2006-2008 OJSC built about 109 transformer centers. Overhaul was made in 246 centers. Roughly 720 new transformers were installed to improve supply of population with energy.

Roughly 120 million manat was allocated from the country's public budget to develop the electric system compared to 57.9 million manat in 2007. Roughly 12 million manat was allocated from public budget in 2006 as well. About 88 million manat was also allocated from own budget of OJSC to reconstruct electric system, Mustafayev said.
