The Azerbaijan State Caspian Sea Shipping Company will ship roughly 13 million tons of cargo in 2009, company head Aydin Bashirov said.
In 2008, the company shipped 11.9 million tons of cargo.
The company's shipments include oil and oil-related products.
Presently, there are 16 dry cargo shipments on the Black Sea.
The amount of shipped oil will increase with additional shipments of oil from the Tengiz field.
In 2008, 285,100 tons of Kazakh oil were shipped via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline.
Three Azerbaijani and two Kazakh tankers handle the shipments.
Oil shipments from Tengiz are expected to increase to four million tons.
