SOCAR to launch new filling station in Georgia

A next filling station under SOCAR brand will be put into exploitation in Georgia soon, SOCAR Energy Georgia Head Mahir Mammadov (subsidiary of SOCAR) said.

"At present a filling station in Zestafoni is under completion and will be launched soon," Mammadov said.

Mammadov said roughly 35 filling stations under SOCAR brand are planned to operate in Georgia by late 2009.

Totally, 22 filling stations operate under SOCAR brand in Georgia now. It is planned to launch a filling station in Batumi soon.

"We have many plans. We want our company to take the first place in retail and we will achieve this goal during some years. We will be close to this goal if the number of our filling stations reaches 60-70," Mammadov said earlier.

SOCAR Energy Georgia deals with distribution and marketing on oil and oil products market in Georgia. Particularly, the company sells oil products and gas on Georgia's market.

Co-founders of SOCAR Georgia include SOCAR - 51 percent, Petro-Trans FZCO - 32.7 percent and Ivan Chkhartishvili - 16.3 percent.
