Georgian government may ink memorandum on new gas pipeline

The Georgian government will sign a memorandum on the White Stream gas pipeline project with the White Stream Pipeline Company Limited. The Georgian Energy Ministry said that the document was viewed by the government.

The document is expected to be signed by Georgian Energy Minister Nika Gilauri on March 25. 

Georgian Deputy Energy Minister Nino Enukidze said that the memorandum envisages cooperation between Georgia and White Stream Pipeline Company Limited. The both sides express a will to cooperate on the project.

The White Stream project envisages the transportation of Azerbaijani and Turkmen gas to Europe via Ukraine. The initial pumping capacity of the pipeline will be 8 billion cubic metres of gas per year. Later, pipeline's capacity will be increased to 24-32 cubic metres of gas.
