The State Oil Company of the Azerbaijani Republic (SOCAR) exported 458 million cubic metre of gas to Georgia in January-April 2009.
In April 2009, SOCAR exported about 85.4 million cubic metre of gas to Georgia, compared to 12.32 million in April 2008.
SOCAR launched gas export to Georgia in April 2008. A total of 788.93 million cubic metre of gas was exported to Georgia in 2008.
The daily gas export to Georgia is about 5 million cubic metre of gas. SOCAR produces gas from its fields independently.
In November 2008, Azerbaijan and Georgia signed an agreement, which makes SOCAR an access to Georgia's gas market for the next five years, beginning from 2009. Under the memorandum, SOCAR created a venture to provide gas to group of gas consumers (social groups), which were determined by the Georgian Government.
