SOCAR sales 140 million cubic metre of gas in Georgia since early of 2009

The State Oil Company of the Azerbaijani Republic (SOCAR) has sold 141 million cubic metre of gas on Georgia's domestic market as for May 20, Head of the SOCAR Energy Georgia (SOCAR's daughter company) Mahir Mammadov said.

In January, SOCAR sold a total of 38.2 million cubic metre of gas, in February -35.7 million cubic metre, in March -26.2 million and in April 33.9 million cubic mere of gas on Georgia's domestic market.

SOCAR Energy Georgia is distributing gas, which accounts for Georgia's share within the transportation of Azerbaijani gas via the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzrum gas pipeline and transit of Russian gas through Georgia.

A total of 166.5 million cubic metre of gas from the Shah Deniz field has been sold on the Georgia's market as for May 20. In January-April 2009, roughly 144 million cubic metre of gas were produced from Shah Deniz field.

According to Mammadov, gas consumption, including liquefied gas has reduced due to warm weather conditions in Georgia. It is expected that the consumption of liquefied gas will grow of this month.

SOCAR Energy Georgia is occupied with distribution and marketing of oil and oil-related products in Georgia.

Co-founders of SOCAR Georgia are SOCAR - 51 percent, Petro-Trans FZCO - 32.7 percent and Ivan Chkhartishvili - 16.3 percent.
