SOCAR planning to drill 19 prospect wells

The State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic will continue prospect drilling on the Umid, Absheron, Nakhichivan, Zafar and Dan Ulduzu fields, president of the company Rovnag Abdullayev said.

Similar works will be launched on the Babek and Mashal fields and to be completed on the Karabakh and Ashrafi fields.

A total of 19 wells will be drilled on the area and prospect drilling will be carried out on the area of 110,000 metres.

SOCAR is operating on 58 fields, both onshore and offshore.

The company is planning to commence prospect drilling on the Umid field for the first time over the last twenty years.

The depth of the well is 6,500 metres, out of which 4,000 metres is planning to drill this year.

Umid-1 platform built on the base of unfinished Chiraq-6 platform is the largest facility within the program with a height of 71 meters. The platform will be installed 15km of Bulla Daniz field at the depth of 58 meters. A total of six gas wells are expected to be drilled from the platform.

Expected reserves of gas on the Umid field is 300 billion cubic metres and expected reserves of gas condensate on the field is 30-40 million tons.
