Residual oil reserves on the Azerbaijani offshore field of Darwin Bank are three million tons against the refined 16.4 million tons, the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) said. The field has been operating since 1950.
Roughly 205,000 tons of oil is produced from 114 wells daily.
Eight wells will be drilled on the field in order to refine residual reserves. A new platform to drill 12 wells will be built.
A drilling rig will be set up on the platform shortly and drilling will be launched. The N190 platform is extended in order to drill additional six wells. A new platform N620, which will be set up in the depth of 19 metres, is planning to construct this year. The Darwin Bank field is operated by the Absheron oil and gas refining office.
