Azerbaijan is one of the true and tested partners in South Caucasus, Romanian Foreign Ministry Secretary of State for Strategic Affairs Bogdan Aurescu said at the seminar "Energy Security: Challenges and New Opportunities" organized by Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry and NATO in Baku.
"Azerbaijan demonstrates constructive and balanced policy both in individual manner and as a part of NATO. Importance of energy security is increasing day by day not only due to commercial benefit. It is also ensuring individual security of countries," Aurescu said.
He said diversification of energy supply will reduce possibility of conflicts.
"I am grateful to Azerbaijan for the contribution to activities of working groups. There is a need for additional cooperation on the Black Sea and Caspian regions. Energy security must be reflected in the coming NATO documents. Romania sees NATO's role in support for regional initiatives and beginnings. Diversification of energy resources is a peculiar bridge which links Europe with the Caspian region," Aurescu said.
