Kazakh companies can actively participate in tenders conducted in Iraqi oil and gas sector, plenipotentiary representative of Iraqi affairs in Kazakhstan, Khaldun Al-Jami, said in interview with Trend .
"I think that it is rather prospective trend. I met with Kazakh minister of energy and mineral resources, Sauat Mynbayev, to discuss this issue," Khaldun Al-Jami said.
Diplomat reminded that 95 percent of Iraqi economy depends on oil export. But Iraqi infrastructure, including oil sector greatly damaged during previous wars.
"We try to return old power by restoring infrastructure of oil branch to return welfare to Iraqi people," he said.
Khaldun Al-Jami said that at present, Iraq exports roughly 3 million barrel of oil per day but intends to reach 8 million barrel per day.
"I remember Kazakh specialists worked in most Iraqi important projects upon invitation during Soviet Union. At present, this practice can be restored," Iraqi diplomat said.
