Azerbaijan's role in providing alternative energy supply routes from the Caspian Sea to world markets is one of the most fundamental and important, U.S. Special Envoy for Eurasian Energy Richard Morningstar told Trend special correspondent in Astana on Aug.26. .
"Firstly, Azerbaijan is a country that has its resources and delivers them to Turkey and Europe. Moreover, it is a transit country, and through it oil is transported via the Caspian from Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan," said Morningstar.
"I want to note that we are confident that the transportation routes that pass through Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey will be reliable and safe transportation of hydrocarbons.
Naturally the security issues are very important and measures should be taken to ensure the security of region's infrastructure. In turn, the U.S. and other countries will fully support these projects," said the U.S. State Department special envoy.
"I should add that all the pipelines in Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey were originally built, considering ensuring their safety," said Morningstar.
