The Oceaneering International cooperation, a subsidiary of the Exxon Mobil cooperation, and BP Exploration signed an agreement on providing services for corrosion protection and inspection of facilities under the projects in Azerbaijan. Oceaneering International's income was estimated at $45 million. The initial term of the contract is three years, Oceaneering International said.
Under the agreement, Oceaneering's activities will cover the Sangachal coastal terminal, as well as the offshore production facilities in Azerbaijan (offshore production platforms and technical platforms) and export pipelines both in Azerbaijan and in Georgia, the same source said.
As part of the contract, Oceaneering International will develop inspection plans taking into account the risks based on detailed corrosion assessments. Grades will be based on both traditional non-destructive testing and on special methods of control with the use of more advanced technologies, such as non-contact ultrasonic corrosion cartography. In addition, Oceaneering International will conduct an analysis of defects to maintain production and meet the requirements of conformity.
