Turkmenistan relies on Venezuelan experience in fuel-energy sector

Venezuela, which is in first place in Latin America for its oil reserves, has rich experience that could be effectively used to implement Turkmenistan's plans in the fuel-energy sphere. These plans require additional investments to introduce advanced technology and use the most modern equipment.

This issue was discussed during a meeting between Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and his Venezuelan counterpart Hugo Chavez, who was in Ashgabat on his first official visit, the national television channel Altyn Asyr said.

The information said that the oil and gas development strategy in Turkmenistan includes increasing of hydrocarbon production and its supplies to the world markets, the capacity of the processing industry and petrochemical production.

The parties stressed the broad prospects on partnership in the chemical, food and textile industries, in agriculture and other leading sectors of both countries' national economies.

"Turkmenistan is prepared for widespread international cooperation. It is taking real actions to turn all areas of the rich Turkmen market into a very attractive area for foreign companies and investors", Berdimuhamedov said. Chavez said that there was "interest from Venezuelan business circles in establishing close business contacts with Turkmen partners."

The sides stressed the importance in establishing a strong basis for cooperation.

The presidents noted with satisfaction that "both sides have a pragmatic approach to building a productive, fair partnership. They agreed to introduce regular bilateral meetings at both top and governmental levels.

Hugo Chavez invited the Turkmen president to visit Venezuela on an official visit. This invitation was accepted with gratitude. The date of the visit will be agreed through diplomatic channels.
