Another filling station (FS) under the brand of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) will be launched in Tbilisi in the near future, SOCAR Georgia Petroleum (subsidiary of SOCAR Energy Georgia) said on Sept. 14. SOCAR Georgia Petroleum sells the Azerbaijani oil to the Georgian market.

"The work to increase the number of filling stations is underway, and today or tomorrow it is expected to open another station in Tbilisi," said the source.

The source said one more filling station of SOCAR will open in Tbilisi by late September.

At present, the total number of filling stations of SOCAR in Georgia is 23 units, but this figure will exceed 30 units by late 2009, said earlier Mahir Mammadov, the head of SOCAR Energy Georgia.

Mammadov said earlier that "We have many plans and we want our company to occupy the first place in retail sales and we will achieve this goal in several years. If the number of our filling stations in Georgia reaches 60-70 units, this means we will close to this result. "

SOCAR Energy Georgia deals with distribution and marketing on the market of oil and oil products in Georgia. Co-founders of SOCAR Georgia include SOCAR - 51 percent, Petro-Trans FZCO - 32.7 percent and Ivan Chkhartishvili - 16.3 percent.
