Ekol Muhendislik Xidmetleri (engineering services) CJSC of Azerbaijan will complete the project on the oil slime utilization and re-cultivation Kursengi and Garabagli onshore fields upon the contract signed with Salyan oil company, an operator of these fields, head of the company, Sultan Aliyev, said.
The company has completed the first phase of the project and is currently implementing the last stage. The cleaning will end by late December, Aliyev said.
The first stage covered mechanical recultivation on the contract area. The second stage of project envisages biological re-cultivation of fields.
According to Aliyev, currently the company holds bio-remediation of about 40,000 cubic meters of oil sludge.
The major purpose of this project is to improve the ecological situation of these areas, expand the company's cooperation with new partners and improve economic opportunities of the enterprise in terms of global financial crisis.
The Salyan oil company plans to drill four exploitation wells on the cultivated fields in 2009.
The company plans to launch bio-remediation of about 10,000 cubic meters of oil sludge at the Gobustan production area upon the order of Gobustan oil. At present, the company is holding design work and perhaps the implementation of the project will be launched in a month, Aliyev added.
Co-founders of Ekol Muhendislik Xidmetleri are SOCAR (51 percent of shares) and Lancer S.A. Services (49 percent of shares). Ekol Muhendislik Xidmetleri was established on March 1, 2006 to solve ecological problems in the Absheron peninsula, SOCAR official website said.
