The protocol was approved as a result of the sixth meeting of Azerbaijani-Kazakh inter-governmental commission on economic cooperation in Baku.
The document was signed by Azerbaijani minister of industry and energy Natiq Aliyev and Kazakh energy minister Sauat Mynbayev.
The commission recommended signing five documents between the governments of countries within Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev's visit to Azerbaijan on October 2-3:
- the document on paying off debt accumulated as a result of trade-economic relations between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan in 1992-1993;
- the agreement on cooperation in veterinary medicine;
- the greement on mutual free visa trips of citizens;
- the agreement on cooperation between ministries of agriculture;
- the joint declaration on establishment of fraternal cities Sumgait and Aktau's relations.
KazMunaiGaz JSC and SOCAR are expected to sign the agreement on power engineering. This agreement will envisage preparation of feasibility study for creation of Trans-Caspian system to transport Kazakh oil trough Azerbaijan, Kazakh minister of energy said.
