Turkmenistan, Ashgabat, October 1 / Trend H. Hasanov /

Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammedow called joint gas pipeline projects as brilliant example of successful interaction in ensuring global energy security speaking to Kazakh colleague Nursultan Nazarbayev over phone one of these days.

He said that new gas route to China also contribute to full implementation of existing economic and resource potential in the region. It will be put into operation in December, as well as future Caspian gas pipeline.

According to the government press-service, the interlocutors discussed the prospects to accelerate partnership in such strategic areas as power engineering and transport. Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan successfully implement a number of important joint projects in these spheres.

The sides highly stressed high rate of implementation of the project to construct the gas pipeline Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan-Kazakhstan-China. This project is unprecedented on scale and significance. They discussed the process to prepare for the ceremony of launching the pipeline, to be held with the participation of presidents of partners-countries.

China will be supplied with up to 40 billion cubic meters of natural gas annually through the new transnational main line in accordance with long-term agreements of Ashgabat and Beijing during 30 years. At the same time, the Caspian gas pipeline project, which was to be built along the Caspian Sea through Kazakhstan to Russia became "frozen".

It deals with that long-term partners - Ashgabat and Moscow are holding difficult negotiations to reconsider the long-term contract on supplies via existing pipeline Central Asia-Center. It deals with Russian Gazprom OJSC's request purchase of gas volumes or its cost. The demand for this type of fuel has significantly dropped due to the global crisis on international markets. Russia has imported entire volume of export gas from Turkmenistan for many years.

The information also states that taking an opportunity the Kazakh President congratulated the Turkmen counterpart with significant date - 18-th anniversary of Turkmenistan's independence, to be celebrated on October 27. Heads of neighbors-countries highly appreciated the level and dynamics of the inter-governmental dialogue.
