The State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) continues processing data acquired during a 2D geophysical survey in the Zardab, Shikhbagi and eastern Shikhbagi onshore areas, a SOCAR source reported earlier today. The company launched the 2D survey in April for the Azneft PU, and finished in early autumn.
The survey's primary objective is to clarify the area's geological structure and locate oil and gas sites.
After completion, the data processing will be followed by analysis, the source said.
A final report will be prepared in March 2010. The report will be presented to SOCAR member Azneft.
Azerbaijan has 57 oil and gas fields, including 18 offshore wells.
SOCAR has over 62, 000 employees.
