SOCAR to sign agreement on third phase program to reduce popping of associated gas with BP

WB mission will visit Baku from December 2-9 within the global program to reduce popping of associated gas, the bank office in Baku said on Wednesday.

The oil, gas and mining services department bank transactions specialist Bakhtiyar Karimov and consultant Joseph Bank Vaytsman will visit Baku as part of the mission.

The main purpose of the mission's visit will be discussion and possible signing of the administrative agreement on the third phase GGFR with SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) for three years, WB representation said.

The discussions are planned to be held with the leadership of SOCAR and refineries to design and measure gas emissions within the mission, the representation of the bank said.

SOCAR is a participant of GGFR program since 2008.

The working group has been established in the Azerbaijani State Oil Company to prepare Associated Gas Recovery Plan - AGRP. It is expected to be adopted by late 2009.

SOCAR has also asked for support from the program to measure the volume of gas popping, which provided recommendations for further improvement of activity in this sphere.
