The oil price of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) rose to 79.64 dollars at mid-week, the Vienna-based group announced Thursday, DPA reported.
One barrel (159 litres) of OPEC-produced crude oil gained 0.52 dollars on Wednesday.
OPEC's basket price has been on a continuous upward track since December 22, when it stood at 71.32 dollars.
The cartel's 12 member countries pump more than a third of global crude oil supplies.
