In February SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) will send a technological gas lift platform to the sea to install one of the blocks for Guneshli field," a source at SOCAR said. A block, built at the Baku Deep Water Jacket Plant named after Heydar Aliyev, will be sent to the sea.
"Building blocks will be completed in mid February, and in February it will be sent to the place of installation," said the source.
The second block with weight of 3,000 tons is built by oil and gas construction trust of SOCAR on the basis of the supporting block Guneshli-20, which has been out of operation since 1990.
The purpose of building a new platform is to maintain a stable level of production on the Guneshli field, independently developed by SOCAR and which accounts for the bulk of the oil and gas production of SOCAR. This platform is scheduled to be put into operation in 2011.
This platform will be installed on the Guneshli field in water depth of 90-92 meters, 50 meters from the existing Guneshli-4 platform. The platforms will be connected by pedestrian bridge. According to the project, social infrastructure - a residential block, a dining room, a spare rig and a helipad will be common for both platforms.
The topsides of the new platform will be used for technical needs. A new gas lift station will be built on the platform. With this station, the gas with 125 pressure atmospheres will be injected into layers. Topsides - compressor station and the entire industrial infrastructure will be designed and manufactured abroad.
