In 2009, Georgia exported a record amount of electricity, which amounted to 641 megawatt-hours compared to 498 megawatt-hours per year in 2008, the Georgian government reported.
In 2009, Georgia's hydro power stations generated 7191 megawatt-hours of electricity compared to 6950 megawatt-hours in 2008. The country's thermal power stations generated about 986 megawatt-hours of electricity compared to 1,218 megawatt-hours in 2008. Last year, Georgia imported 329 megawatt-hours of electricity compared to 574 megawatt-hours in 2008.
The country's electricity consumption amounted to 7864 megawatt-hours compared to 8405 megawatt-hours in 2008.
