Azerbaijan, Baku, Feb. 9 / Trend /

Power supply was cut in most Baku districts, OJSC Bakielektrikshebeke, distribution of Electric Power company in Baku, reported.

According to preliminary information, there are problems on high-voltage transmission lines.

Unconfirmed reports, however, say that power supply was cut because of a system crash.

Metro passengers on the stretch between the stations Ulduz and Nariman Narimanov are searching a way out in complete darkness, witnesses say.

Power outages in Baku did not affect the work of Heydar Aliyev Airport, AZAL Spokesman Maharram Safarli said.

"The Baku airport does not have problems with power supply. The airport operates in normal mode," Safarli said.

JSC Azerbaijan Railways Spokesman Nadir Azmammadov said that trains were also not affected by the outages.

"Trains are not stopping movement and we have no problems there," he added.

Bakielektrikshebeke reported that electricity supply has been partially restored now.

Power outage has not also affected hospitals because most have generators, the Azerbaijani Health Ministry reported.
