The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic's (SOCAR) new tank farm in Ukraine allow the company to sell petroleum products on the Ukrainian market in wholesale and retail, through its own network of filling stations acquired earlier, SOCAR HEAD Rovnag Abdullayev said today.

"Oil terminal located in Odessa will give us the opportunity to store purchased refined products and sale them then, and through our filling stations in this country," he said.

According to him, the oil products to be sold on the Ukrainian market may be of the Azerbaijani production, and bought from refineries in Ukraine.

"If the economy allows, it will be our oil products and if not, then we will buy them from Ukraine's refineries. The other companies also operate with same principle in Ukraine" he said.

Previously, SOCAR has purchased about 20 filling stations in Ukraine. Currently, the work to re-brand them is underway. This project is only part of the company's larger program in Ukraine, in particular, on large-scale retail sales of petroleum products on the market of this country.

The company is expected to launch sales at these stations in late first quarter.
