Baku's International Sea Trade Port transported 599,000 tons of oil cargo in January-April, or 25 percent less compared to the same period of last year, the Baku port said.

"During four months the port transported 599,000 tons of oil and oil products that, or 25 percent less compared to the same period of the last year," a source said.

He said that the rates of decline are justified by total decline in the transit of Kazakh and Turkmen oil and redirection of a part of the oil cargo from Central Asia to the oil terminal at Sangachal, transported by Cross Caspian company in the middle of last year.

In total, Baku's port transported over 1.72 million tons of various cargoes in January-April, up four percent more than in January-April 2009.

The port transported 5.1 million tons of cargo in 2009.
