Construction of the pipeline "East-West" creates additional broad opportunities to provide consumers with gas in Turkmenistan, as well as export of Turkmen energy resources to the world markets in different directions, the Turkmen Foreign Ministry said.
According to the report, the construction of gas pipeline "East-West" is another real evidence of the country's commitment to develop broad international cooperation in energy, active and effective participation in multilateral efforts to create a safe, secure and fair system of energy supplies to the world markets.
This week, the construction of major trunk pipeline in Turkmenistan "East-West with a length of 1,000 kilometers across the country was launched. Capacity of the new pipeline is 30 billion cubic meters of gas a year. Its approximate value is 2 billion.
The main objectives of the project are the creation of a unified gas supply system in Turkmenistan and the diversification of supplies of Turkmen natural gas to international markets.
The Foreign Ministry said that, today, Turkmenistan is developing mutually beneficial and long-term energy cooperation with different countries. It has reliable and long-term partners - Russia, China, Iran. The European direction looks promising in Turkmenistan's energy strategy, the report said.
