Under the project to create the Azerbaijan-Georgia-Turkey energy bridge, the three countries' energy systems hold calculations, vice-president of PU Azerenergy (production and distribution of electricity in Azerbaijan) Marlen Asgarov said.
He said the calculations are carried out with support of the U.S. International Development Agency (USAID). Most of the work under this project should be carried out in Georgia, where it is necessary to build new interconnections. This project involves the restoration of the 100-kilometer 500-kilovolt power line running in the direction of Georgia in Azerbaijan.
"Construction of the line was included in the plan, but we expect the completion of calculations," Asgarov said.
Asgarov said the negotiations on uniting the energy systems of Azerbaijan, Russia and Iran are also underway. However, negotiations in the framework of this project go very slowly. "It mainly depends not on us, but on Russia and Iran and their negotiations, as negotiations between them pass very slowly," he said.
According to Asgarov, the work on designing one or two small hydropower stations in Ismayilli region, as well as work on construction of small stations in Fizuli and Goychay, is underway.
