Azerbaijan, Baku, June 2 / Trend E.Ismayilov /

Kazakhstan is interested in the Baku-Black Sea corridor, and hopes to increase oil transit through Azerbaijan, KazMunaiGas head Kairgeldy Kabyldin said.

"We certainly hope to increase the volume. We are interested in the Baku-Black Sea corridor and we expect that by the beginning of the Kashagan Field's development, we will prepare a corridor to transit large oil volumes together with our SOCAR colleagues," Kabyldin said.

He said the corridor involves the use of existing infrastructure, while a new project is also under consideration. The most cost-effective facility will be a pipeline, which is under consideration, Kabyldin said.

Around 7 million tons of Kazakh oil, which mainly will be sent to Batumi, will be transported through Azerbaijan in 2010. Most of the oil will fall to the Tengiz Field. Nearly 2 million tons of oil will be supplied by private companies and KMG is not involved in the management of these operations, Kabyldin said.
