National company representative: Iran intends to increase explored oil and gas reserves by 2015

National Iranian Oil Company has discovered oil reserves worth 100 million barrels in the Alborz oil field, located near the city of Qum.

By the end of the first quarter of 2015 the company forecasts an increase in total oil reserves at 12.5 billion barrels, the Iranian National Oil Company department head Mahmoud Muhaddis said, MEHR agency reported.

He said that one of the main objectives of the development program is to explore 200 million barrels of oil in the Caspian Sea before the end of the first quarter of 2015.

Muhaddis said that currently Iran's reserves amount to 208 billion 89 million barrels of liquid hydrocarbons.

At the moment, Iran has 145 oil and gas, as well as 297 oil and gas reservoirs. The largest oil deposit is Gyachsaran, the largest gas field - South Pars.
