Statoil: Azerbaijan is crucial in company's business

Azerbaijan, Angola and Algeria are of crucial importance in the business of the Statoil Company, Statoil Manager Exploration Middle East Eigil Resmussen said during his Pakistan visit.

"Angola, Algeria, Azerbaijan are of crucial importance to our business, and now Statoil is focusing its attention on Pakistan to expand its international presence in this part of the world," Resmussen said.

The company is the largest operator in the world, working in water depths over 100 meters. The company has achieved significant growth on a global level over the past few years, Resmussen said.

Statoil is a participant of the largest energy projects in Azerbaijan. The company is engaged in the Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli project. Statoil is the commercial operator of the first stage of the project to develop the Shah Deniz gas condensate field in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea. The company is also a shareholder in the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan and the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum pipelines.
