Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad attended the opening ceremony of the Mirvarid and Pardis – 2 petrochemical plants this morning, the IRNA news agency reported. The plants are located on the South Pars Field.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad attended the opening ceremony of the Mirvarid and Pardis - 2 petrochemical plants this morning, the IRNA news agency reported. The plants are located on the South Pars Field.

With the launch of Pardis' second phase, Iran will have the potential to produce 1.75 million tons of granulated carbamide and 680,000 tons of ammonia per year.

Mirvarid will produce 500,000 tons of ethylene per year.

The second phase of Pardis began in 2004. Some $450 million were invested in its implementation. The profit margin is expected to hit $280 million per year.

The construction of Mirvarid began in 2006. Some $456 million were spent on construction. The profit margin is expected to reach $ 270 million per year.
