The Trans-Afghan Pipeline can only be constructed if there is stability in Afghanistan, Japanese Foreign Ministry spokesman Kazuo Kodama said today.
"The pipeline's construction was discussed last Saturday by foreign ministers at the third meeting of the 'Central Asia - Japan' conference in Tashkent," he added.
Kodama said Japan supports Uzbek Foreign Minister Vladimir Norov's statement that the pipeline should be built as soon as stability is restored in the country.
"The Uzbek FM said that as soon as Afghanistan restores stability, this will immediately affect regional economic growth and the implementation of many planned projects," he said.
