Oil and gas production increased in Azerbaijan in January-July

Azerbaijan produced 29.74 million tons of crude oil and condensate in January-July, or 1.8 percent from oil and condensate production in January-July 2009, the State Statistics Committee said.

The major oil production in January-July fell to the Azerbaijan International Operating Company. It extracted 24.8 million tons of crude oil and condensate, or 2.3 percent more than the same period last year on the block of offshore fields Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli and gas condensate field Shah Deniz.

Gas production in January-July in Azerbaijan amounted to more than 15.4 billion cubic meters, or 11.2 percent more than during the same period last year. About 6,1 billion cubic meters of gas, or 0.1 percent more than in January-July 2009 fall to "Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli" fields (associated gas) and Shah Deniz.

About 11 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity was generated in Azerbaijan in January-July, or five percent less than during the same period last year.
