Azerbaijan founded an oil and gas technical committee today under the chairmanship of the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR). The committee has already been established and its regulations have been approved.
The committee will review all existing oil and gas field standards in Azerbaijan and determine if they comply with contemporary standards.
In the case of discrepancies, the committee will define which standards should be applied in the country's oil and gas industry in all sectors from drilling to petroleum production.
An action plan will also be prepared to serve as the future basis of Azerbaijan's oil and gas standards. The plan will be announced over the next several years.
Earlier, the government said the committee will consist of seven subcommittees, and serve as a forum for interested sides, public and private agencies, and manufacturers and sellers.
Azerbaijan utilizes AZS national standards and GOST regional standards.
