Ashgabat, Kabul conclude framework agreement on TAPI gas pipeline

The Turkmen Government and the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan signed a framework agreement on the implementation of construction of Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) in Kabul the day before.

The Turkmen Government and the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan signed a framework agreement on the implementation of construction of Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) in Kabul the day before.

According to the Turkmen Government, adoption of the document took place during the second meeting of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Afghan Commission on trade and economic cooperation

The report says that that the Commission's members from the Afghan side, headed by the Afghan Economy Minister Abdul Hadi Arghandiwal, expressed "his country's great interest in a systematic increasing of constructive interaction with the friendly and brotherly Turkmenistan, which always provides unprecedented assistance for socio-economic revival of Afghanistan" .

The meeting participants expressed their conviction that the implementation of this giant project will become a powerful impetus to strengthening stability and peace in the region, provide wide opportunities to create thousands of new jobs and conditions for further development of industrial capacity in the participant countries in construction of this giant energy bridge.

Several documents on cooperation in areas such as fuel and energy, transport, commercial and social were discussed and signed at the meeting.
