Power supply to southern regions of Azerbaijan will be restored as soon as the weather will allow it, Trend was told in press service of JSC Azerenergy on Saturday.
Electricity was cut off in the southern regions of Azerbaijan due to heavy rains.
"No accident, electricity supply was cut off in order to prevent an accident on plants", the press service said.
It has been raining heavily in Azerbaijan since early Saturday.
Official with the Azerbaijani Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry National Hydrometeorological Department, Umayra Tagiyeva, told Trend on Saturday, that average daily rainfall is double its September norm in Baku.
"Heavy rains have been observed mainly in the Lankaran-Astara region, and in some areas of the Greater Caucasus. The rainfall was recorded at 48-64 percent over the monthly norm and exceeded the monthly rate by two times in Baku and the Absheron Peninsula," she said.
According to Tagiyeva, the rainy weather will continue until Monday.
"The rain should stop in western parts on Sept.12. No rain will be observed on Sept.13," she said.
