SOCAR to complete process of gas pumping into Azerbaijani underground gas storage facilities

At present, amount of gas reserves in the Azerbaijani underground gas storage facilities, which are at SOCAR's disposal, exceeds 2.64 billion cubic meters, a source in oil and gas market said today.

The country has two underground storage facilities - Garadagh and Kalmaz.

According to the source, over 1.13 billion cubic meters of gas of total amount of gas in the underground gas storage facilities, remained from last year. In 2010 the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) pumped more than 1.5 billion cubic meters of gas into underground gas storage facilities in Azerbaijan.

"The process of gas pumping into underground gas storage facilities continues rapidly. The pumping season is not yet completed," the source said.

According to him, gas pumping process will continue at least by late of this month, and at most - by mid-November.

In 2009, SOCAR pumped into the country's underground gas storage facilities about two billion cubic meters as compared to 1.4 billion cubic meters in 2008.
