The Sate Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) has conducted ecological monitoring on the offshore field 'March 8' in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea, SOCAR said.
During the monitoring, samples of seafloor sediments, benthos, phytoplankton and zooplankton were taken from the 15 stations selected at the field. The speed of ocean currents was also measured and the physical-chemical properties of upper and lower layers of water were identified.
All the indicators and samples were sent to the SOCAR Environment Management's laboratory for studies.
