United States, Kazakhstan to sign joint action plan in energy sector

The United States and Kazakhstan will sign a joint action plan in the energy sector, Kazakh Foreign Ministry spokesman Askar Abdrakhmanov said at a news briefing this week.

"This document will be signed following the seventh session of the Kazakh-U.S. Joint Commission on Energy Partnership," Abdrakhmanov said.

A Kazakh delegation headed by Oil and Gas Minister Sauat Mynbayev is on s two-day visit to the United States from Nov. 15, he said.

"The Kazakh-U.S Joint Action Plan includes a wide range of issues on bilateral cooperation in the energy sphere, such as hydrocarbon development and their transportation, nuclear energy and nuclear safety, energy conservation and developing alternative energy sources," he said.

Abdrakhmanov added that the minister will visit a solar installation at the U.S. Energy Department, and hold meetings with the agency's leadership and representatives of the U.S. State Department and members of the Kazakh-American Business Association.
