The Baku International Sea Trade Port transshipped 1.68 million tons of oil cargo in January- October compared to 2.1 million in the same period of 2009, a source in the Baku International Sea Trade Port said.
"A decline is observed in the handling of oil cargoes. In particular, the port handled 1.68 million tons of oil since early 2010, but the figure was 2.1 million in the same period of 2009," the source said.ПрослушатьНа латинице
As a source said earlier, the rate of decline is due to overall decline in the transit of the Kazakh and Turkmen oil and from middle of last year redirection of the part of the oil cargo from Central Asia to the oil terminal at Sangachal, where Cross Caspian transhipments are carried out.
In 2009, the Baku Port transhipped 2.5 million tons of oil cargo, which is 10 percent less than in 2008. In total, in 2009 the port transhipped 5.1 million tons of cargo.
