Azerbaijan, Baku, Dec. 1 / Trend E. Ismayilov /

Next year the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) plans to conduct operations to maintain the level of oil and gas production in the Guneshli field, a source in SOCAR said.

According to him, in particular, it is planned to drill new oil and gas wells.

"Now it is difficult to speaking about volumes, which are expected next year, as the measures are not summed up. But next year the works will be carried to maintain production level or even increase it," the source said.

The source called drilling of six new wells on the "Gunashli-14" platform as an example of plans to drill new wells envisaged for next year.

"In particular, next year it is envisaged to drill six wells on 14 platforms. Some of these wells will be gas, some of them will be oil wells," the source said.

Bulk of own (without the participation of foreign companies) oil and gas production of SOCAR falls to the "Guneshli" field.

The shallow part of the "Guneshli" field is developed by SOCAR at its own expense, and the deep-water part in the block of fields "Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli" jointly with a consortium of foreign companies.
