Azerbaijan exports chemical products worth $115 mln in 2010

More than 19 million manat was spent for the development of chemical enterprises in Sumgait in 2010, Azerbaijani government's 2010 report says.

The funds were spent on large-scale repair and restoration of buildings, equipment. Work on the reconstruction of some production sites were also carried out, the report says.

Source of raw materials of the installation EP-300 producing ethylene-propylene has been expanded through the supply of liquefied gas and natural gasoline from oil refineries and gas processing plants. As a result, in the second half of the year, monthly production of ethylene and propylene increased by 1.6 times, while the consumption of naphtha required for their production reduced by 20 percent.

In 2010 the cost of exported chemical products amounted to $116.6 million compared to $ 74.1 million in 2009.

Last year, production growth hit 11.5 percent at the enterprises of Azerkimya Production Association of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR).
