SOCAR lowers gas extraction from underground storage facilities

The active gas volume in Azerbaijan’s underground gas storage facilities reached about 1.6 billion cubic meters as of March 14, compared to about 2.11 billion cubic meters as of Feb. 14, the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) said on Monday.

The active gas volume in Azerbaijan's underground gas storage facilities reached about 1.6 billion cubic meters as of March 14, compared to about 2.11 billion cubic meters as of Feb. 14, the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) said on Monday.

A SOCAR source said the company has withdrawn more than 16.5 million cubic meters of gas from the facilities, compared to about 21 million cubic meters as of Feb. 14.

Some 8.6 million cubic meters fell to the Kalmaz underground gas storage facility, and 7.92 million cubic meters fell to Garadag.

The company extracts gas from underground storage facilities at 95 wells, the source said.

As a result of seasonal pumping, the volume of gas reserves in Azerbaijan's underground facilities amounted to 3.05 billion cubic meters. Of the total amount of gas available in the storage facilities, more than 1.13 billion cubic meters remained from last year.
