The State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic's (SOCAR) Azerkimya intends to construct a berth to ensure the proper delivery of finished goods as part of a project to create an industrial town for manufacturing chemical products, Azerkimya Chief Mukhtar Babayev told Trend.
He said the terms of construction depend on the conditions of the technological park's operation.
The project to create the industrial town is actively considered with the Economic Development Ministry. Work in this direction is underway. Legislation is being drafted, he added.
"It will be a project directly related to industrial products," Babayev said.
First of all, enterprises located in the industrial town will work on the basis of
products produced by Azerkimya, but other structures' participation is not excluded, he said.
The industrial town will work on a private basis. Mostly small and medium enterprises producing finished chemical products will operate in the area.
Today, Azerkimya's enterprises in Sumgayit produce semi-finished products - primarily for export.
"We now have the opportunity to develop many products within the country," Babayev said.
New technology will also be used to build the park. A modern production facility will be established, which will also address the issue of employment.
Babayev said Azerkimya will provide the technological park with raw materials, land, infrastructure and communications.
