Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has attended today a groundbreaking ceremony for "Astara-1" small hydroelectric station to be constructed on the Istisu River, Azerbaijani Presidential official website reported.
President of "Azerenerji" Joint-Stock Company Etibar Pirverdiyev informed the Head of State about construction of the hydroelectric station.
President Ilham Aliyev viewed scheme of the station and photo stands featuring the building.
The Head of State was told hundreds of small hydroelectric stations were planned to be built in the country in the near future.
Serious measures are underway to strengthen the potential of small hydroelectric stations in member states of the Council of Europe.
Then, President Ilham Aliyev put a time capsule into the foundation and covered it with liquid concrete.
The Head of State wished successes to constructors and gave instructions and recommendations.
