Kazakhstan will focus on petroleum product prices in Russia, Oil and Gas Minister Sauat Mynbayev said on Wednesday.
Kazakhstan is self-sufficient only when it comes to diesel fuel and AI-80 gasoline, he added.
"We import jet fuel and high octane gasoline from Russia and in large quantities," he said.
In addition, he said 6.5 million of 13 million tons of oil from Russia is directed to the Pavlodar Petrochemical Plant, which is technologically focused only on raw materials from that country.
"Accordingly, certain coordination of prices between Russia and Kazakhstan will always be," he stressed.
He said the price gap is regulated by different levels of excise taxes.
